Shavar Manuel was committed to the Florida Gators for about a month before de-committing and pledging to Florida State on National Signing Day.

According to a source close to the Florida program, Manuel would have had trouble meeting the academic requirements for UF enrollment. It turns out he’s run into the same problem with the Seminoles.

College football insider Phil Steele tweeted Tuesday that Manuel failed to meet enrollment requirements at Florida State and will head to junior college.

The 4-star defensive tackle from IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) was ranked as the nation’s No. 9 defensive tackle and the state of Florida’s No. 11 overall player.

Despite missing out on Manuel, the Gators signed three defensive linemen to its 2016 class, including 4-star defensive ends Antonneous Clayton and Jordan Smith, and 3-star defensive end Jachai Polite.
